Performance-lessons

In reality, Ariano Suassuna’ s concept of performance-lessons already existed since the Orquestra Armorial tour that was held in the decade of 1970, traveling through Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul. The concerts were presented by him with the aid of slides, paintings, drawings, etchings and poems, becoming lessons of Brazilian culture. Between 1995 and 1998, as Secretary of Culture of Pernambuco, Ariano gave several performance-lessons, but it was during his second term as head of the Secretariat, from 2007 to 2010, that he created an independent structure for this undertaking. He traveled all over the state with his Circus: the Circo Onça Malhada, a troupe of musicians, dancers, singers, folksingers and guitar players in order to illustrate his cheerful and quixotic discourse in defense of Brazilian culture.
