Manuel (Christ)

The presence of a black person to represent the most important symbol of the Christian religion demonstrates Suassuna´s boldness, as he is questioning the image of Jesus with light skin and blue eyes that is so often present in the Catholic image. To evoke the simple and majestic presence of this Christ, played by Zózimo Bulbul, Brennand created a sunny yellow mantle with a dark blue lining, upon which is set a huge red heart that is much larger than his chest, and surrounded by tropical flowers and fruits.
