Sea Horse

The participants of the folguedo (festivity), who are exclusively men, are masked. The plot that shows daily situations must be rehearsed, but will accept the participation of the public, who gather around in a circle in the area of the presentation, participating and becoming involved in the performance.

The orchestra, including a fiddle, tambourine, reco-reco and ganzá, is known as the Bench, as the musicians sit on a big wooden bench that usually has no backrest, and remain there, playing and singing throughout the event.

The masks that are very important in this cultural manifestation are strange and even horrifying, and represent animals such as the Onça and the Burrinha, fantastic figures such as the Véia-do-Bambu and Pisa-Pilão, and even regular human beings such as Margarida or the Verdureiro.
