Ariano Suassuna was one of the most prolific authors of his generation, working as a playwright, novelist, essayist and poet. An extensive illustrated chronology, created especially for the exhibition, highlights the main events in the writer's life.
Among this vast range of books and plays, acclaimed by the public and critics, we selected some publications, presented in banners, created based on the cover arts by Manuel Dantas Suassuna and Ricardo Gouveia de Melo, using the Alfabeto Sertanejo, created by Ariano from the cattle branding irons.
Suassuna left thousands of handwritten pages, and, in the incessant search for the best result, he wrote and rewrote using clippings of xeroxed and pasted texts. To reveal this interesting process, we gathered in a showcase some pages of the manuscript from the book Dom Pantero. Also present in this module are photos of the Ilumiaras, which, more than locations, are a concept developed by Ariano over the years.
